The challenge
The Dubai Mall’s app experience needed to feel as premium and seamless as the destination itself—modern, elegant, and impactful, with a clearer sense of orientation across a complex ecosystem.

UX audit: What was holding the experience back
We identified three core issues impacting usability and perception:

- Inconsistent color use, reducing clarity and brand impact
- Fragmented navigation and transitions, making it easy to lose context
- Too many actions per screen, creating cognitive overload

Strategy: Premium simplicity with fluid interactions
The future-state direction focused on:
- a premium, minimal, “royal” simplicity
- smoother interactions that create delight without confusion
- clearer hierarchy and progressive disclosure to reduce clutter
- iconography and pattern consistency for faster navigation

Brand experience logic: Controlled identity, expressive discovery
We proposed an approach where the app stays brand-consistent at its core, while allowing the experience to become more expressive as users explore shops, events, and services—without compromising clarity.

Re-engineered product flow: Designed for real guest needs
We restructured the experience around key guest tasks, including:
- search (list + map), shop discovery, and store details
- saving, subscribing, and account behaviors
- parking and vehicle-related flows
- confirmations, payments, and service requests
- support, FAQs, and feedback loops

Moodboard + proof of concept: Making the future tangible
To communicate the direction clearly to stakeholders, we created a moodboard and proof-of-concept visuals that demonstrated how the refined experience could look and feel.
