The challenge

The Dubai Mall’s app experience needed to feel as premium and seamless as the destination itself—modern, elegant, and impactful, with a clearer sense of orientation across a complex ecosystem.

UX audit: What was holding the experience back

We identified three core issues impacting usability and perception:

  1. Inconsistent color use, reducing clarity and brand impact
  2. Fragmented navigation and transitions, making it easy to lose context
  3. Too many actions per screen, creating cognitive overload

Strategy: Premium simplicity with fluid interactions

The future-state direction focused on:

  • a premium, minimal, “royal” simplicity
  • smoother interactions that create delight without confusion
  • clearer hierarchy and progressive disclosure to reduce clutter
  • iconography and pattern consistency for faster navigation

Brand experience logic: Controlled identity, expressive discovery

We proposed an approach where the app stays brand-consistent at its core, while allowing the experience to become more expressive as users explore shops, events, and services—without compromising clarity.

Re-engineered product flow: Designed for real guest needs

We restructured the experience around key guest tasks, including:

  • search (list + map), shop discovery, and store details
  • saving, subscribing, and account behaviors
  • parking and vehicle-related flows
  • confirmations, payments, and service requests
  • support, FAQs, and feedback loops
